Three generations of the Kalemi family welcome you to a quiet stretch of the Ionian, where mornings begin with the day's catch and end with the long blue of the Albanian coast.
A Welcome
For nearly three decades our family has kept a small, honest hotel on the southern coast of Albania — a few footsteps from the water, a long evening from the noise of the world.
Sarandë is a town of olive trees and stone harbours, of Greek inscriptions and Roman roads, of Corfu glowing across the strait at dusk. We are not the largest hotel here, nor the loudest. We are simply the one where the cook is the father, the bread is from the bakery two streets down, and the room you stay in has been kept ready as if for a friend.

Our restaurant — Kalemis — serves what came in from the boats that morning: sea bass, octopus, prawns, and a long list of small dishes from the village.

Ksamil and its turquoise islets. Butrint, where the Romans were. Lëkurësi Castle at sunset. Corfu, an hour by ferry. The richest coast you have not yet seen.
More →Thirty-Seven Rooms

A bright room with a private balcony and a queen bed, opening onto the Ionian.

Three good beds, a wide balcony, the morning over the water — our most-asked-for room.

The most recent renovation — marble bath, deep balcony, the room we put repeat guests in.
The Family
Konstantinos, Alexandros, Viktoria, Ilias, and Vangelia — five members of the family, each with a hand in something.
One of us answers the phone. One is behind the desk when you arrive. One is in the kitchen with the morning bread. One is at the grill when the sun goes down. And one is always with a clipboard, somewhere quiet, making sure the rest of us are doing what we said we'd do.
After nearly thirty years, this is the only way we know how to do it.
Our Sister Company
A car opens up the Albanian Riviera in a way nothing else can — the south to Ksamil and Butrint, the north over the mountains to Himarë and the Llogara pass.
We run Sarandacars ourselves — modern, well-kept cars at the kindest rates on this stretch of coast. As a guest at Kalemi's, you receive a permanent 15% discount on any rental, every season. Just mention your reservation when booking.

A very clean, family-run hotel. Large secured parking, extremely hard to find in Saranda.
Great place, amazing family running the hotel, felt like home.
Everything was perfect! Friendly owners, clean rooms and great breakfast! We will definitely be back.
Omelettes made on the spot, warm and fresh. Plenty of selection — sweet and salty.
The owners are super nice and friendly. Our apartment had the best views.
They drove me to Vlorë on my departure — a 2.5 hour drive. Family in every sense.
